Planning Specialties
Generally, I am hired by families who's financial strategies require a little more horse power in the areas of tax, estate planning and/or asset protection. That's where my legal (JD) and tax (CPA) expertise can add the most value. It's also what differentiates me from my fellow, fee-only CFP(r)'s.
Historically, the families that seek me out the most have been entrepreneurs and real estate investors who own complex assets. However, in 2019 Congress passed the SECURE Act. This law changed how retirees will pass on tax-deferred retirement assets to their heirs. Since that law change, most of my time has been spent helping families with retirement distribution planning and structuring the family's wealth for the next generations.
Additional Information
The reality is that it's difficult for families to reach their financial goals. A coordinated plan can make it easier. Unfortunately, most people are receiving little more than a retirement projection from their advisor. In many cases, that projection is self-serving for the advisor because it's designed to help sell an insurance, investment or annuity product.
As an independent, fee-only, fiduciary, my advice will never be used to steer you toward a product sale. We will start with a thorough analysis of your current financial position. Then we will work together to capture every opportunity the analysis reveals to make reaching your financial goals easier.
It takes roughly 12-18 months to create a comprehensive financial plan. After creating the plan, we generally continue working with our clients to monitor and re-evaluate the plan as their life evolves.
