Planning Specialties
I have been involved in the investment world for all of my career beginning as a Fixed Income Trader for a regional brokerage firm. From there I joined a commercial bank and served as a Portfolio Manager where I managed personal trust accounts, institutional portfolios and a municipal bond mutual fund. My career transitioned from banking into financial planning and investment advisory services in 1999 when I founded Summit Financial Planning, Inc.
As one who has always enjoyed puzzling things together, I find it energizing to build portfolios and put together financial plans. The other major aspect I enjoy about my work is meeting and getting to know my clients.
Education has always been an important component of my career. I hold the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, and am a Certified Financial Planner (CFP)®, and a Certified College Planning Specialist (CCPS). I also hold a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Richmond.
Additional Information
While I find my career very rewarding, I feel it is important to participate in charitable causes as well. I currently serve as the chair of the Investment Committee for The Community Tax Law Project in Richmond, VA. The Community Tax Law Project provides assistance to lower income tax payers who need assistance in dealing with the IRS.
