Planning Specialties
I approach comprehensive planning the way I would like it done for myself:
- Look at the complete financial picture
- Consider the tax implications, both now and in future
- Provide recommendations but also alternatives and explain the impact
- Be objective, data driven, open and honest
My investment approach focuses on the right asset allocation for the person, then finding efficient securities - exchange-traded-funds (ETFs) and mutual funds - for the asset classes. I believe an active manager adds value in some asset classes, especially bonds and alternatives. If comfortable, I use a conservative option overlay strategy on some ETFs.
Additional Information
See "Kirk's Blog" for planning topics and month-end market updates. Recent presentations to local library and high school adult education are also available under Resources section of website.
In addition to the CFP and CFA, I am also a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA). This gives me a deep understanding of Social Security and insurance needs to help navigate your needs.
My wife and I are empty nesters but two children are still in college. This gives me first-hand experience with college planning!
