Additional Information
Prior to founding Barnett Financial Planning, Dr. Barnett had practiced as a general dentist for 27 years. He graduated from Rutgers University in 1977 with a BA degree in biomathematics, and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania dental school in 1981. While dentistry was his profession, investing and financial planning were his passions. As a husband and father of three children, Dr. Barnett understands the challenges of budgeting and cash flow, investments, college and retirement planning, insurance, and estate planning. For many years, family, friends and colleagues have asked his advice and opinions about personal financial matters and investment options. Although he was self-taught and self-motivated in investing and financial issues, he felt a more formal education was required of someone providing professional financial advice. To that end, he enrolled in and completed the Personal Financial Planning Certificate program at the University of California-Irvine in 2007. In March 2007 he passed the CFP(R) exam and in October 2007 he founded Barnett Financial Planning, an independent Registered Investment Advisor firm in Tustin, CA. In February 2010 he completed all four requirements - education, examination, experience, and ethics - to earn the right to use the CFP(R) designation. Dr. Barnett is proud to be a member of the Financial Planning Association, the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors, and the Garrett Planning Network.
