2020 NAPFA Fall Conference Speaker
Jody Jacobson
Dr. Jody Jacobson is the founder and CEO of The Human Skills Institute. She is a strategic thinking partner for financial advisors, firm owners, and their teams to get next level growth by unleashing their human skills. With over 20 years of experience working with financial advisors, business owners and organizational leaders, Jody helps her clients cultivate the mindset and implement the right strategies to achieve their biggest goals. Whether they want more clients, meaning, or time; to integrate financial life planning into their offers and pricing; to cultivate a higher-functioning team; or to be more systematized, she helps her clients set and achieve breakthrough goals. Never one-size-fits-all, she tailors her approach to each client's unique needs and style.
Jody finds that financial advisors (and others) often get stuck because of blind spots in their business and marketing strategies or mindset—not knowing when to zoom out from details to see the big picture, perfectionism, doing without defining a clear purpose or target market, using approaches that no longer work for them, and undervaluing their time and expertise. She demystifies the business and marketing sides of business, which is why her clients typically say, “Wow, now that you’ve made it so clear, I can do that!”
Jody is the author of Organizational ADD: Refocusing Your Business for Growth—Strategic Thinking for Long-term Profitability. Her PhD in Social Construction (applied social psychology and neuroscience) is from Tilburg University (The Netherlands) and her master’s in business administration is from Bucknell University. She is a Certified Appreciative Inquiry Master Practitioner and Trainer. She lives in Palm Desert, CA, where she loves to hike and bike and share photos of her adventures.
