Laura Fisher
A skilled communications strategist with nearly two decades of experience, Laura is a financial services and fintech subject matter expert with deep expertise in traditional and social media, thought leadership, and corporate reputation management.
Laura advises Fortune 500, non-profit and government clients in working with the media, engaging key influencers and managing headline risk. She has a keen sense of the banking and financial services competitive landscape and well-developed relationships with the media and influencers who cover the industry.
Prior to joining VOX, Laura ran an independent communications consultancy, providing media relations and communications counsel to financial services organizations that focused on financial planning, financial education, and corporate and small business lending.
Before founding her own practice, Laura was a senior vice president at the American Bankers Association where she spent almost a decade as a spokesperson and media strategist for high-profile government relations issues. In that role Laura was the lead media strategist and on-the-record spokesperson for the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005 and managed a media relations portfolio that included regulation and compliance, international banking, bank accounting, bank insurance sales and financial education.
Laura has served as president of the ABA Housing Partners Foundation which supports the availability of affordable housing through a partnership with Habitat for Humanity International. She was also executive director of the ABA Education Foundation which engages banker volunteers in providing financial education to more than 500,000 young people each year.
Laura has a Claritas Investment Certificate from the CFA Institute, is a member of the Exchequer Club, a DC-based financial services policy group, and serves on the Board of Directors for the FINRA Investor Education Foundation and the Credit Builders Alliance.
