Karen McIntyre
As Principal, Senior Financial Advisor, Karen McIntyre provides financial planning and wealth management advice and services to our family of clients. She specializes in working with executives, professionals and small business owners, as well as clients who are newly widowed or divorced. Karen is well versed in the income tax implications of executive compensation plans. Working with Wescott’s leadership and other professionals, she is also responsible for cultivating new client business and is a member of the firm’s Marketing and Sales Committees. Karen also serves on the firm’s Portfolio Strategy Group, which oversees the firm’s dynamic investment strategies, ongoing due diligence of Wescott’s investment managers and asset allocation design.
Karen has more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry counseling wealthy families. Prior to joining Wescott, Karen served as a wealth advisor at a large national financial planning firm, where she focused on working with women in transition and upper level pharmaceutical executives.
She is a National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA)-Registered Financial Advisor, having served as a NAPFA board member for the Northeast Mid-Atlantic Region. She was also a study group coordinator, a member of the Regional Conference Planning Committee, and a volunteer with the NAPFA Money Bus, a traveling tour that helps educate consumers on the need to reduce personal debt while increasing savings. A member of the Financial Planning Association and its Media Response Team, Karen was chosen by Investment Advisor Magazine to serve as a board member for the inaugural Wealth Summit National Conference. She is also a recipient of the 2017 Five Star Wealth Manager of Philadelphia distinction from Philadelphia Magazine.
Karen has been a resource to journalists reporting on financial planning issues and has been quoted in several publications, including The Wall Street Journal, U.S. News and World Report, Consumer Reports, Money Magazine, Entrepreneur and The Philadelphia Inquirer. She is also a frequent guest on the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School-sponsored SiriusXM radio show, Your Money.
A volunteer with several community-based organizations that focus on children and literacy, Karen is a member of Maternity Care Coalition’s finance committee. A non-profit organization whose mission is to improve maternal and child health through programs like Early HeadStart, MoMobile, and Cribs for Kids, Maternity Care Coalition has served over 100 thousand families since being founded in 1980.
Karen received her bachelor’s degree in counseling psychology from Ithaca College, and is a registered trust representative and a Certified Financial Planner™.
She resides in Chalfont, Pennsylvania, with her son.
