Jim Pavia
Jim Pavia is the money editor for CNBC digital, overseeing the financial advisor-focused and personal finance news coverage. He joined CNBC from InvestmentNews, where he was the editor for 10 years. He was later promoted to editorial director.
Pavia, who has been a journalist for 35 years, has won multiple national writing awards, including three from the American Society of Business Publication Editors, for “Editorial Excellence in Editorial/Column writing.” He was also the 2014 recipient of the Malcolm S. Forbes Public Awareness Award for Excellence in Advancing Financial Understanding Among the Public, which is awarded by the Financial Planning Association’s New York Chapter.
Pavia has worked as an editor at the New York Daily News and The National Sports Daily. He got his start in journalism right out of college as a sports reporter at the Staten Island Advance. Pavia has served as a guest lecturer for three years for the Dow Jones News Fund’s national foundation, which promotes careers in journalism. He has also been a journalism guest lecturer at New York University, Baruch College and St. John’s University.
