Ryan Murphy
Ryan Murphy, Ph.D., is director of behavioral science for Morningstar. Murphy’s research is interdisciplinary, bringing together methods from experimental economics, cognitive psychology, and mathematical modeling to gain insights into how people make decisions.
Before joining Morningstar in 2016, he was the chair of decision theory and behavioral game theory at the Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich Switzerland. Previously, he was the associate director of the Center for the Decision Sciences at Columbia University in New York.
Murphy holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Wake Forest University and a doctorate in management and organizations from the University of Arizona
