Manisha Thakor
As the Director of Wealth Strategies for Women at Buckingham and the BAM ALLIANCE, Manisha is an ardent advocate of financial literacy for women. She is passionate about providing the financial wisdom that women and families need to redefine their relationship with money, helping them create lives aligned with their values and goals through a program of integrated, holistic financial life planning and evidence-based investment management. As a member of the firm’s investment policy committee, Manisha is passionate about identifying socially responsible investment strategies consistent with an evidenced-based philosophy.
Manisha is the co-author of two critically acclaimed personal finance books: On My Own Two Feet: A Modern Girl’s Guide to Personal Finance and Get Financially Naked: How to Talk Money with Your Honey. She is a member of the faculty at The Omega Institute and serves as a financial fellow at Wellesley College. She also sits on The Wall Street Journal’s Wealth Experts Panel and became a member of CNBC’s Financial Advisor’s Council in 2015.
Manisha’s financial advice has been featured in a wide range of national media outlets, including CNN, PBS, NPR, The Today Show, Rachel Ray, The New York Times, The Boston Globe, The Los Angeles Times, Real Simple, Women’s Day, Glamour, Essence and MORE magazine.
Manisha was a 20-year veteran of the financial services industry before she joined Buckingham’s thought leadership team in early 2015. Most recently, she managed her own Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) firm, MoneyZen Wealth Management. Prior to that, she worked on the institutional side of the business as an analyst, portfolio manager and client relations executive at SG Warburg, Atalanta/Sosnoff Capital, Fayez Sarofim & Co. and Sands Capital Management.
Manisha earned her bachelor’s degree from Wellesley College in 1992 and her MBA from Harvard Business School in 1997. She is also a CFA charterholder and a CFP® professional. Manisha lives in Portland, Oregon, where she joyfully revels in the amazing food and coffee scene.
