2016 Spring Conference Speaker
Richard Lee
Richard ("Richie") Lee is the CEO of Lee Financial Corporation, which he founded in 1975 as one of the first fee-only financial advisory firms in Texas.
Richie entered the financial services industry working for Financial Service Corporation (FSC), one of the first financial services firms to incorporate Financial Planning as a core part of its suite of services. Richie recognized two things in this early period. One, the value Financial Planning provided in helping make the right decisions for the right reasons. Second, the conflicted nature of the product-driven industry structure. As a result, Richie left the firm in 1974 and established one of the first fee-only financial advisory firms in the country.
Passionate about helping his clients reach their personal and financial goals, Richie recognized the need for a multidisciplinary approach to solving clients' problems. This broader context involved integrating financial and business planning as a well as a goal-based structure focused on an array of specific client objectives. In addition, Richie helped pioneer a new level of investment diversification using what are now commonly referred to as "alternative investments". Today, Lee Financial remains a leader in diversifying clients' portfolios with alternative investments.
Richie has earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Certified Financial PlannerTM (CFP) designations. Richie received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas and a Master of Business Administration degree from Southern Methodist University.
Mr. Lee is an active member of the CFA Institute, the Financial Planning Association (FPA) and is a charter member of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA).
