Mathew Sorensen
Mat is an attorney, business owner and real estate investor. He lives and works in Phoenix, AZ and has clients all across the United States. Mat’s practice areas include real estate, self directed IRA law, business entity formation, securities law, estate planning, and general litigation.
Mat is the best-selling author of the most widely used book covering self-directed IRAs, The Self Directed IRA Handbook: An Authoritative Guide for Self Directed IRA Investors and Their Advisors.
Mat strives to aggressively and effectively protect his clients’ legal interests, and his experience in the law is broad. Mat has worked in the in-house legal department of two international companies where he dealt with franchise law, trademark law, employment law, state regulatory schemes, and contracts. He also served as an Assistant Attorney General in the Attorney General’s Office in Utah where he prosecuted felony criminal cases from filing to trial.
In his current private practice he has set up over 1,000 companies for clients, has litigated in the U.S. Tax Court as well as in federal and state Courts in Arizona, Utah and California, has assisted dozens of clients in raising capital through private offerings, has advised over a thousand clients with self directed retirement investments, and has helped clients buy/sell numerous multi-million dollar businesses.
Mat has received many awards and recognitions for his work and was recently selected by Utah Business Magazine on multiple occasions as a Utah Legal Elite in the area of Corporate Counsel.
