2016 Spring Conference Speaker

Jan Pavletich was employed by SSA from May 1976 until her final retirement in January 2010. Jan worked as a Claims Representative primarily in the retirement, survivors, Medicare and disability programs, assisting individuals filing claims. She insured legal qualifying requirements were met. She was a Technical Expert and a Supervisor for many years which required that she review the most complex claims for accuracy and compliance under Social Security laws and regulations. Jan finished her career as a Manager in Globe Arizona, Jan insured that each employee followed proper procedures, technical guidelines and rules and regulations set up by the Administration. She continued to interview and process the most difficult retirement and survivors claims. She counseled and trained the staff on new policies and procedures. She reviewed their claims for accuracy and compliance.

As representatives of SSA we have spent our entire careers advising individuals of their options under the complex programs administered by SSA. It has been a constant in our public contacts to never advise nor counsel as to what an individual “should” do, but rather explain what they “could” do in regards to their benefits. The final choice to access benefits has always been the unfettered decision of the applicant.
