10/31/2024
10:00 AM - 11:00 AM
Broadway Ballroom C/D

This in-depth workshop is tailored specifically for financial advisors seeking to expand their estate tax planning expertise. Running the numbers on specific situations, which consider savings rates, spending upon retirement, growth rates, income taxes, and other factors, can help the planner determine what technique or techniques should be used by a family, and possibly quantify the expected savings and estate tax obligations or the cost of antidotes to “cure” this exposure.

The workshop will concentrate on one family, and how a variety of techniques and choices can impact their outcomes.

Learning Objectives

  • Analyze the use of annual gifting strategies, such as the gift tax exclusion and discounted gifting through LLCs, to maximize tax efficiency in estate planning.
  • Evaluate the appropriate circumstances for implementing Qualified Personal Residence Trusts (QPRTs) and utilizing rent payments as a strategy to optimize estate value.
  • Determine when and how to make large gifts in anticipation of the 2026 exemption reduction and assess the benefits and implications of using installment sales to grantor trusts for family planning purposes.
