Retirement Boot Camp by Advisors, for Advisors
Continuing the NAPFA tradition of Members mentoring Members
You’ve helped your clients plan for their retirement, now it's your turn. Join this pre-conference session to hear retired NAPFA members discuss their own experiences. Whether retirement is ahead of, or already behind, you, our intention is to help you with framing and starting to get answers to the many non-financial questions that surround retirement today.
Nancy Nelson will moderate a panel of three retired NAPFA members: Bert Hughes, J. David Lewis and Velda Eugenias. Each panel member will have short, prepared remarks on the social, mental and physical issues that have come up for them. In addition, because we know there will be a lot of wisdom in the room (and on Zoom!), there will be ample time for input - both questions and answers - from attendees.
Having been a fee-only planner can make the retirement experience somewhat different for us than it is for our clients and friends: lack of a clearly defined retirement target date, the personal and financial rewards of the profession, the passion many of us brought to our work, as well as the fact that our friendships and even our identity may have been wrapped up in our profession. The fact that we have guided so many clients toward and through the process may leave us feeling surprised by some of the challenges that come up.
There is no cost for this session. It will be offered live at the NAPFA National Conference hotel, as well as via Zoom. Note that we will NOT be discussing financial matters - this is not about selling your practice, investing, tax planning, etc. Our focus is on connecting with fellow fee-only planners who are embarking on the next chapter of their lives.
